a team from Purdue University designed the winner of the 9th International Bicycle Design Competition. The bike which is called Shift, helps little ones keep their balance when learning how to ride on their own. When Shift picks up speed, the back wheels gradually change from the wide base to essentially becoming a single wheel by changing alignment. Therefore eliminating the need for training wheels.
