When it comes to alarm clocks, their job is to get you out of bed. Here are 10 alarm clocks that get you out of bed in a very annoying fashion.
Sfera alarm clock
![]()
The Sfera alarm clock hangs from the ceiling above your bed. When the alarm goes off, you can reach up and touch it to activate the snooze function causing it retract towards the ceiling. When snooze goes off again, you have to reach higher to activate the snooze again. Each time you activate the snooze function the alarm retracts a little higher to the point that you get your butt out of bed.

Jigsaw Puzzle Alarm Clock

The Puzzle Alarm wakes you up by firing four puzzle pieces up in the air, then it is your mission to get the pieces and put them back in the alarm clock or it won’t turn off until then. Price:$52
[via Gizmodo]
Nooby

The interactive alarm clock with a unique personality goes by the name, Nooby. To see what time the alarm is set you simply ask him and he reads the current alarm setting and assures you it’ll go off. When your favorite time of the morning comes around, he’ll beep and say, “Rise and shine, it’s time to get up!”. When you go back to sleep and don’t turn the alarm off right away, he’ll beep again, but this time he gets nasty, “Take your fingers out of your ears!”. To put an end to this harassing wake up call, you simply ring the clock’s blue neck. If he senses that you are angry, he’ll get grumpy and ignore you.Price:$29.95
[via Gadget Review]
ClearSounds Wake & Shake Alarm Clock

ClearSounds Wake & Shake alarm clock features a choice of loud tones, a flashing strobe, or vibrating pad to alert you when the alarm signals or as an added bonus, when the phone rings!
Tone control offers 95 dB ring level volume intensity. Flashing strobe light breaks through sleep to wake you up. Vibrating pad can be positioned under your pillow or mattress for a sturdy nudge out of bed.
Price: $59.95 ![]()
If 95 dB is not loud enough for you (a jackhammer is about 100 decibels). This 113 dB alarm clock should do the trick.
Laser Target Alarm Clock
A laser beam aimed at the exact center of the target is the only way to turn off the alarm sound in the morning. When the laser hits the target the alarm is turned off for 24 hours and goes off at the same time the next day. The alarm will always do this until manually de-activated or the alarm time changes. When you wake up to an alarm and you have to concentrate to carefully aim the laser beam at the target, you’ll be suitably awake so as not to easily fall back asleep.
Kuku Alarm Clock

The Kuku Alarm Clock greets you every morning by crowing and laying eggs. It won’t stop chirping until you’ve returned its eggs.
Price:$49.95
The Drill Sergeant Alarm Clock

The Drill Sergeant Alarm Clock
After a bugle plays “Reveille,” your personal drill sergeant clears the cobwebs from your brain with an inspiring round of orders you can’t fail to obey. LCD display provides you with time, alarm time, and date. Alarm with snooze button sounds with bugle, drill sergeant, or AM/FM radio (when you’re off duty, of course).
Price:$19.98
[via Red ferret]
Flying Alarm Clock

The blowfly alarm clock escapes from a cage in your room, moves and produces sound around you when the alarm goes off. To turn it off you have to catch it and put it back in its home. A similar alarm is available at Amazon for $25 ![]()
Sonic Grenade Alarm

The Sonic Alarm will wake pretty well anything up. Simply pull the pin, yell an emphatic “fire in the hole” and lob the grenade into the sleeper’s room. After ten seconds a very annoying and piercingly loud noise (there are three volume settings) will blast out from the alarm. That’s not all however, what makes this especially great is that to stop the alarm the sleeper has to find you so you can put the pin back in. Price:$19 ![]()
Clocky

When you hit Clocky’s snooze button, he will roll off of the nightstand, fall to the floor, and run around the room, searching for a place to hide. When the alarm sounds again, you have to get out of bed to find it and turn it off. He finds a new spot everyday, “kind of like a hide-and-seek game”.Video of Clocky in action.
Price:$50 ![]()

Thanks Dennis,
I didn’t know about the FHM piece. I will have to check it out. Most of these alarm clocks have been featureed on this site before (#1,2 and 8 ). The remaining 7, I used various search engines with keywords “annoying alarm clock” to finish off the list.

My brother is hard of hearing and uses a Wake and Shake type alarm. You are basically supposed to put the vibrating probe under your mattress so it violently shakes your bed when it is time to get up. Great if you can’t hear but it sucked when we were growing up because it would seem to shake the entire house. Very nice when he hit snooze every 10 minutes for an hour. And the display was like 5 inches tall which I never really understood. They REALLY wanted you to know what time it was.
Mar 13, 2006 at 6:01 pm
Katie is correct - the Wake and Shake is an example of alarm clocks designed for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Thay are typically used in conjunction with flashing strobe fire alarms.

I have thought about a good alarm system for a long time,, and for me I know one that would work very very well.
It would be attached to the wall or ceiling and could look similar to the number one on the list… but insead of just sound it will spray water on its last snooze,, and dripp water before,,,
I have always asked my wife to pour water on my face to wake me up, but she thought I would get mad, and still has not agreed to do it… BUt I want it, and promised I wouldn’t be mad..
Maybe someday i will create this invention

Wer die restlichen 5 Wecker (darunter ein Drill-Instructor, ein Stroboskop-Wecker und eine Handgranate) auch sehen will, der sollte mal bei Uber-Review vorbeigucken. this selection are sure interesting (and totally annoying, too, especially if you’re waking up from a much-needed sleep)!
however, i would like to add that there’s another another alarm clock that can be included in the above category. a dorm mate of mine way back in college received a clock made in Japan. and it was a total nightmare - - the alarm would go off at the exact time it was set, not with a ringing nor chirping sound, but with a long, bellowed Japanese morning greeting (Ohayo…). oh well… so much for a good morning!

I think these clocks would be so cool to own. I have so much trouble getting up in the morning and these would be great to actually force me to get up.

The Sfera - I would reef that thing out of the ceiling in no time…..I’m rather partial to the snooze function and deliberately set my alarm to go off earlier than I need it to..Just so I can hit that snooze button before I need to wake properly..I must say though it would be a nasty present for those that like to hit the snooze button for hours. 7/10
Puzzle Alarm - Oh lord…….I’ve done puzzles to death with four kids, plus a new grandchild almost at the age for Grandma to start playing puzzles with him! I’ll give this one a miss too BUT great idea….will make sure they get the heck outta bed PLUS cleanup at the same time! 8/10
Nooby - Clearly this little gem is for the grumpy wakers that aren’t civilised before having breakfast and 10 cups of coffee. It could be also be utilised throughout the whole day when the stress overload starts to take hold. Have little stickers handy to quickly write the name of the stress inducer, stick on the head and start to throttle! More fun than a stress ball!! 10/10
Clearsounds - From what I hear this is not the normal kind of vibrating device found in bedrooms?? It appears to be ergonomically incorrect and strobe lights are definitely not quite my thing. If I want to see strobe lights I’ll brave the local Rave party or something! 2/10
Anemone - gawd that thing would be annoying as heck….. having to chase it around the room is not really the first thing I want to do when I get up…..Now if it shook itself to the kitchen and made made tea? It would definitely rate a score. Plus who dreamed up the sickly yellow colour? 0/10
Kuku - These are getting worse!! My eyesight right on waking is not at it’s optimum…..I wouldn’t be able to see to get the damn eggs back in!! It could work if someone was to bring me two cups of tea in bed first and let me wake slowly. That would give my eyes time to adjust to being awake, then tada, I’d pop those eggs right in! One thing wrong with this idea, Why would I need the darn alarm to go off if I was already awake? 3/10
Drill Sergeant - This one would be out the window in double time………I’m not taking no orders from a 3 inch man in a uniform barking at me at anytime, let alone first thing in the morning!! -1/10
Blowfly - hmmmmm Where’s the Mortein? I’ll fix it! 3/10
Sonic Alarm - Damn why wasn’t this around when the brats were younger?? I would have had a ball with this…..Mind you it’s never too late *grin* Top marks for the added benefit of being able to annoy my kids! 10/10
Clocky - Love it….but NOT FOR ME LOL………That thing would drive me nuts. It defeats the purpose of me hitting the snooze button and rolling over for another 10 mins LOL Besides IF I have to go playing hide and go seek there better be Easter Eggs with it! 10/10 cause I love the idea

I find this all so silly… If you are that bothered to be able to press snooze… don’t… set it to when you actually need to get up and turn it off… no snooze… simple…

Is the ClearSounds unit for the hard of hearing? Might not be as annoying if you can’t hear it. In this case you may actually need the bed shaker.
