Peter Bethune, a 41-year-old New Zealander, is using biodiesel made of fat from his rear end to power his speedboat. Sometime this month, he plans to break the record for circling the world in 65 days, smashing the old speedboat record by 10 days, while promoting the use of renewable fuels at the same time. Peter had liposuction of his gluteus maximus, which he is able to power the boat for 1 hr. Since you would need a really large behind to fuel the 27,600-mile journey, the rest comes from vegetable oils and other animal fats. The boat he uses, the Earthrace, hauls ass at about 58 mph or 45 knots.
