Infrared Sauna, 1000 Calories Burned In 30 MinutesStumble This

infared sauna.jpg

The Healthmate saunas uses infrared sauna technology to heat the body directly without having to heat the air as in traditional steam saunas. The company makes some interesting claims, such as, the world’s best-selling infrared sauna, used by NASA and the U.S. Airforce and the grand daddy of them all: their sauna can burn up to 1000 calories in 30 minutes. Interesting.

Healthmate is quick to point out that infrared heat has nothing to do with ultraviolet or atomic radiation, which would provide the opposite of Healthmate saunas’ claimed health benefits, including detoxification, weight loss and holistic well being. All models are fitted with a Panasonic CD/tuner.

Price:$3500 for a single person unit, to $8250 for a five-person unit

Something about cooking myself from the inside out kinda bothers me personally, but hey, why not just use your remote control and do the same? :)

I agree this doesn’t seem to be the best idea i’ve ever heard of. it’s too much like being in a gian microwave! i’m not a bag of popcorn, no matter how much my celulite makes me look like one. I’d rather diet and exersise.

seems ok, but nothing beats the classic pour water on the hot rocks feeling.
somtimes technology scares me with its new ideas.

Perhaps it is used by NASA and the U.S. Air Force…

…but that doesn’t mean that it lives up to its claim of burning 1000 calories per hour. Fat is a type of cell in the body, and must be metabolized–you can’t “cook” it away like you’re a giant piece of steak on the grill.

If you believe this, then you’re also one of those people who believes that doing sit-ups will burn fat off of your stomach. Well, sorry to tell you, but sit ups hardly burn any more calories than just lying on your back (look it up), and you can’t single-out a part of your body to burn fat from; it’s a gradual process that happens over your entire body during metabolic reactions.

I’m going to make a safe guess and say that whoever invented this put it through a lab test where they measured the weight of someone before and after going into this sauna. There are 3500 calories in 1 lb. of fat. Why is this important? It means they’re tricking you into believing that the weight you’re losing in this sauna is fat, and not the water weight you lose from perspiration (it IS a sauna, for crying out loud).

Nasa and the Air Force use this for what? Maybe they test space shuttle tiles in it.

    Hi

I believe NASA originally invented the Far Infrared sauna.

Every living thing emits infrared rays. They’re the same rays that you feel from the sun. And they’re not the UVA or UVB rays that sunburn you either.

An infrared sauna heat penetrates to a deeper level than a conventional sauna and although fat is not “melted” toxins in the fat cells migrate to the sweat and blood stream. You actually sweat 2 to 3 times more than in a normal sauna.

Check out my site http://www.the ultimatesauna.co.uk for more information about them.

    Hi

I’ve now discovered that it was the Japanese that discovered the infrared sauna and in fact used it for several years before NASA used it in the space program (I explain more in my article page on http://www.theultimatesauna.co.uk)

LOL, used by NASA and the Airforce for what application? Something gives me the feeling if it weren’t for the wood finish that thing would look like a gas chamber. I’m a lazy person but i’ll take my chances without using that thing, 10 minutes too long in there and you’ll be detoxified because your remains will be splattered inside like a burrito that exploded in the microwave

Over the last twenty-five years, extensive research has been done on the far infrared sauna, including some done by NASA. They concluded, as did every research institution, that this sauna provides significant benefits to your heart while detoxifying the body and burning an astounding amount of calories. NASA uses this far infrared on their space shuttles as a convenient and very effiecient way of keeping astronauts in peak physical conditions while in very cramped quarters. Far infrared is the same wavelength of rays we get from the sun, but without the ultraviolet rays. It is widely used in Europe, not just as a way to lose weight or strengthen your entire cardiovascular system, but also to fight cancer since the sweat you lose while in the sauna contain a large amount of toxins, much more so than the sweat lost during a hot rock sauna. The heat in a far infrared sauna is much more comfortable, and you sweat more at lower temperatures. It also significantly boosts your immune system, softens your skin, invigorates you and de-stresses you. They are really nothing new in Europe( I’m from Denmark,) and all these findings have been extensively proven over the last quarter of a decade. I myself own one, and I love it. Don’t be so hasty to judge something.

I seem to be losing more water weight, but have found that my clothes are extremely loose on me. Before I bought the Sauna, I would work out, wearing a sweatsuit, under a sauna suit. The difference I do notice is that when I ran a couple miles on the treadmill and rode my recumbant bike, as well as crunches and light weightlifting, I seemed to lose size in areas that I don’t seem to be touching now. I am finding that I don’t have the aches and pains that I had prior to working out. While working out, I also seemed to feel detoxified, not getting simple headaches and backaches. Now, I seem to be in the same boat, except I’m not losing size as quick as I did. It appears that I’m just losing the water weight, but I am feeling great at 30 minutes a day.

I have had my infrared suana two years ( CedarUS is the brand ). I dont sell them so I have no monatary interest in advocating them.I was skeptical at first. The claim that they burn 1000 calories per 30 minute session seems far fetched. that would depend solely on the individuals metabolism. As a fat middle aged man, perhaps 200 - 400 calories is more applicable.
But I will say this, a 1/2 hour a day session a day has helped me greatly with recovery from a motor vehicle accident with an 87 mph impact. The aches and pains are now able to be dealt with, we dont get sick, and overall my family is in good health. is it because of the suana?
it sure is not the fast food, drink and other aspects of my lifestyle. I would reccomend this to anyone that has arthritis pain, fibro, or mobility issues.

Somebody says that Suana is only a muscle relaxing process but I don’t agree with them. As I know thaty it certainly loosing some callories in each session. so I always try to enter Suana for atleast for 15 mins 3 time a week.

I have recently bought one for health reasons and am finding that it definitely helps with the aches and pains! For the sceptics I suggest they read the book “Detoxify or Die” and they might change their minds.
