In order to reduce the number of people that like to urinate on the street during the night time, there is a system called Urilift. This high tech urinal has already been used in Amsterdam and other European cities but it is making its first appearance on the American solo later this year.
The device itself measures 2 meters and is made of stainless steel, it is a big cylinder that has 3 urinals inside. The best part is how the Urilift works, during the day it’s hidden under the sidewalk while at night it pops up thanks to the hydraulic system it has. It takes 2 minutes to stay on the same level as the sidewalk and this task can only be done by an operator that has a remote control to make the Urilift go up or down.
Each Urilift costs about $75,000 and the first unit will be installed on Victoria, Canada. Here is a video of the Urilift in action:
