As New Years is fast approaching, smokers everywhere get ready for their yearly attempt at kicking the habit. Helping with that weaning process is a new electronic gadget called Nicostopper.
This MP3ish looking device locks down 10 of your favorite cigarettes and delivers those yummy cigarettes at preset intervals. When one of those cigarettes are released the screen offers self help messages to ease the process. If that doesn’t stop you from smoking at least you will have $300 less to spend on smokes after you pay for the device.

[...] This nifty gadget might look like some form of MP3 player, but it actually locks down up to 10 of your favorite cigarettes, freeing them at preset intervals. Of course, you could always cheat by not even inserting any death sticks inside in the first place, but we’ll leave that to your conscience and your willingness to actually spare your lungs from tar. The Nicostopper could stop hearts as well with a price tag of $300. Source Share and Enjoy:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. [...]

Limiting frequency of cigarette use at fulminate // Architectures of Control

[...] Of course, a device such as Nicostopper does not stop the user asking a friend or someone else for a cigarette, nor indeed taking a full packet along in addition. The actual strength of control is fairly low. The user really must want to control his or her habit, and be determined to do so, otherwise there is no point in buying the device.
