With the recent availability of the Opera browser for the Nintendo Wii, Orb Networks’ MyCast media streaming technology suddenly has the capability to turn your Wii into a media center. With just a few simple clicks of the wiimote, you can play video, audio, internet radio and more through your Wii on your television.
The video above is a user demonstrating this nifty (free!) capability. As if the Wii weren’t cool enough as it is, now it can be a full-on media center. If you’re one of the lucky few million who’ve managed to get your hands on a Wii, here are the simple steps to set this up for yourself:
- Download the free Opera Internet browser available at http://www.wii.nintendo.com onto your Wii.
- Download Orb at http://www.orb.com onto your on always-on Windows PC at home. It takes less than 3 minutes to do.
- Turn on your TV and access the Wii main menu. Select the Internet Channel when connected to the Internet and open the browser.
- Using your Wii remote, log onto your Orb account through Wii at mycast.orb.com. That’s it. Now enjoy, watch and listen to any digital content on your home PC — videos, music, Internet TV and radio or any other online content you programmed in your Orb MyCast application: they are now all airing on your TV screen.
