It's nice to be able to load our own music. It does run exclusvely on batteries, which is a good and bad thing. It's nice to be able to just grab it and go, without worrying about plugging it in (like you can take it to the park, beach, whatever), but of course, you do have to replace the batteries when they run out. It comes with batteries, which is nice. And I have no idea how long batteries will last since we just got it. It does have an automatic shutoff options of one song, 15 minutes or 30 minutes, which is the right amount of time. It would be nice if it ran all night, but that would require it to be plugged in (since I'm not running something all night that's only runs on batteries!) but that will probably come with a new model.
