It appears that the classic ping pong game is going to receive an upgrade. Secil Boyd, the inventor, has finished a ping pong table for three. The Tripong incorporates plexiglass “nets” to slice the table into three sections. So how do you play 3 person ping pong? Easy, each section has a neutral zone and a scoring zone, when you hit the ball into a players scoring zone and if they do not return the shot, you score. Boyd is hoping that a major sports company will start producing the Tripong and have out in the Marketplace in 2007.

well, some great invention?
haven’t you ever played ping-pong with like 10 people?
each has its own paddle and after you hit the ball you have to run around to hit the next turn on another side of the table, if you cannot you leave the play. at first it easy but imagine how much running you have to do when there are 3 persons left. when just 2 players left they play a ‘normal’ match.

That sounds like an awesome game. A bunch of friends and i came up with an interesting alternative to doubles ping pong. Its called Volly Pong. The scoring is still the same but instead of just one person hitting the ball at a time a player could actually set his/her partner up for a spike or whatever the player wanted to do by bumping the ball up in the air for your partner. The ball can only be hit twice but it can be played off of anything and everything except for the players free hand. Try it out! Loads of fun!
