The idea behind a Rolling Bridge is just fantastic to say the least, I’ve never seen a bridge that could roll itself and become a circle, so this is surely a “new thing in townâ€, more exactly in London (UK) but I think this could become a great addition to the City of Water also known as Venice (Italy).
The rolling bridge measures 12 meters and is composed by 8 steel and timber sections, that I suppose measure 1,5 meters each and are almost symmetric. As you can see on the image the bridge is suppose to curl and become a big wheel.
Rather than a conventional opening bridge mechanism, consisting of a single rigid element that lifts to let boats pass, the Rolling Bridge gets out of the way by curling up until its two ends touch.
