Double-ended Mini Cooper, Drive It In Both DirectionsStumble This

Double-ended Mini Cooper

For many people a car like Mini Cooper is already a pleasure to see, so just imagine a Double-ended Mini Copper that enables users to drive in both directions.

That type of car was what BMW presented in Techno Classica Essen 2007, a Car Show that took place in Germany.

I guess 2 people can’t be driving this Mini at the same time, or else the final result will be a disaster.

Enjoy yourself with more photos:

Maybe those BMW engineers remembered the whacky german movie series starring an intelligent VW Beetle. One character was a double ended Citroën 2CV: http://www.moviesection.de/v3/img/datenbank/dudu32.jpg

I built this Mini with the help of a few people, no drawings were made, it was built on a Global jig and dimentioned by eye, this was built in the training school at Longbridge in the West Works, no engineers apart from asking if it could be done were involved in its design or construction

Wow! I saw a US cop car like this once. Then James May from Top Gear made a Salfa Rome-aab ! Hillarious.

I’d like to make a double ender too!

But who can I get help/ideas/advice from?
Normal mechanics would only go so far. But I need to know how to do things like the 4-wheel steering that would have to be implemented, and reversing the driving direction from the engine/transmission when the driver changed sides.

The steering was just two steering racks and either one was disabled with the steering lock, whichever way you were traveling, the gear linkage was extended through the back of both remote boxes and linked together with rods, this was very easy and the simplest method
