The following is a paid product review; however, the opinions expressed are my own.

Like many people, I feel better when my workspace is clean and organized. Unfortunately, life keeps me busy and it’s hard to keep things straightened up the way I like them, and the “wireless office” we’ve been promised for decades has yet to materialize. These nifty little cable-management gadgets from CableOrganizer.com are designed to take care of one specific mess: that labyrinthine tangle of twisty little cables, all alike, that dangles behind your desk.
CableOrganizer sent me two different types of gadget to try out: three sizes of Cable Turtles and the comprehensive Cable Manager system. Below the jump, see photos of these items unboxed, a full description of what’s in the packages, and the main event: before and after photos of my desk with the CableOrganizer gadgets in action!
The Cable Turtles come in three sizes: 1¾ inches, 2½ inches, and 3½ inches in diameter. They’re made of a fairly stiff but still flexible rubbery plastic, and the two halves can rotate independently around the central post. It’s easy to wind cables up inside the turtles and only leave as much protruding through the little dimpled edges as you need, keeping the rest hidden away but still easily accessible.
The Cable Manager is a complete cable organization kit designed to mount on or near your desk and allow you to quickly and simply untangle and condense the myriad cables your computers and peripherals use. In the kit is the main mounting bracket that can be screwed into the wall or clamped to the edge of a desk, the cable track that attaches to the bracket, three cable hooks that can be positioned as desired on the cable track or the back side of the bracket, 18 hook-and-loop (like Velcro) cable straps for securely gathering up any cables, four cable clips with adhesive backing to help guide wires along edges as desired, three 10-inch bungee cords, screws in case you want to mount the bracket on the wall, and a sheet of adhesive cable labels.
Here’s my desk pre-installation. Two laptops with all their attendant cords, as well as other random cables for things like my cellphone charger, my mp3 player charger, my floor lamp, etc. Quite messy-looking and difficult to untangle if I need to get to something. It could certainly use some help! Putting the Cable Manager together took only a minute–everything snaps into place with barely any effort, and rearranging the cable hooks to my liking was a breeze. Mounting it on the desk, untangling and then carefully re-winding the cords, securing them with cable straps and positioning them as desired took about fifteen minutes. And voilá:

Everything’s all tidy! Between the powerhouse Cable Manager and the three Cable Turtles, all of my cords are neatly wound up and stowed out of the way, turning a dangling, complex mess into a neat and easy to manage package. And taking my laptops on the road isn’t difficult, either: I just slide the looped cords off the cable hooks, detach a bungee cord, and the laptop’s power cord is free.
The Cable Manager is $29.99. The Cable Turtles, from small to large, are $4.99, $5.99, and $9.99 apiece.
