As if doing kayak in the wild rivers isn’t already a good adventure full of excitement, imagine the scenario if you add an engine. The final result is a world speed record on the kayak category - 35mph - and the person responsible for this extreme act is Shaun Baker.
How does it work?
- To control the speed there is a paddle-mounted finger throttle
- And to take care of the steering there is a normal paddle blade

They cut a hole in the back of the kayak, built a frame, and rigged the engine to turn a Yamaha jet ski’s pump and impeller, which draw in and expel water.
