You can do the same for much less and less annoying : suspend a used tennis ball from the ceiling

This contraption would tend to get moved as one walks around an empty garage.
The tennis ball hanging from the ceiling could be quit high and set to touch the windshield. It too would still get bumped into, but it would always swing back.
The tennis ball is a much better idea.
