Brando’s 2-USB-Ports Multi-Solar Charger could just be a great way to charge up your gadgets and gizmos. As long as it is daylight, you have a power-source to charge your cell phone or USB devices. It powers your devices via a solar charged battery. Open the clamshell and it folds out into a rather sizable solar array. It sounds like a great idea, until you read at little further down the page.
Six to eight hours to charge, in winter that is nearly a full day of sunlight. Aside from that, there is the fact that you can’t exactly be charging it up as you walk around. The best you can really hope for is to use this thing every couple of days. The solar panels just make the charger bigger and heavier than it needs to be. It could be a quarter of the size if it charged up from the mains. Any environmental benefit of a solar powered charger is likely to be negated by the materials that are used to make these things. The only folks likely to really benefit from something like this are people who experience frequent power outages and campers who must have their cell phones. For daily use, a multi-output AC adapter would be a more practical choice.
Brando do actually have some amusing gadgets, but this one fails to make the cut. Good for outdoorsy types, useless for everyone else.
