Japanese game maker Epoch has recently released two electronic dartboards that bring the experience of playing soft darts on a good quality dartboard into the home. Electronic dartboards are nothing new, but good quality electronic dartboards are on the expensive side. With the Epoch systems, you have two options, TV Darts or PC Darts. The Japan Soft Darts Association approves both systems. The prices on the Epoch website are higher than they should be, I saw the TV Darts package on sale at Toys R Us yesterday for about 5% less than the web-based quote.
TV Darts could be a great way to put your old CRT to use. The dartboard is regulation size, though they have done away with the traditional dartboard color scheme. There is a large range of games, including several variations of the ever-popular cricket. Score data is saved and there are up to 9,999 entries for each award.
PC Darts connects to your PC via a USB cable. With the bundled software, you can customize many of the screens within the game. PC Darts costs a little more than the TV version but looks sensational. The screens look slick and the long USB cable should keep your monitor out of harm’s way.
TV Darts Price: $163
PC Darts Price: $245

I’ve purchased this product through a friend in Japan. The dartboard is pretty much advertised anywhere online, but is only sold in Japan and can be found in most Japanese online dart shop/ site. I spoke to a representative at Epoch and other Japanese dealers and they don’t deliver outside Japan so I had a friend help me out. Good luck trying to buy this. It took me a while to get it here in the U.S.
