Diesel has a bad reputation in many countries, but it need not.  Diesel engines get some fantastic mileage.  New diesel engines are quite clean.  You do not see clouds of black smoke billowing out of Mercedes Benz or BMW diesel models.

Now there is an even cleaner option.  Did you know that the original diesel engines were designed to run on vegetable oil?  Lovecraft Biofuels is a company that specializes in converting regular old diesel engines to run on vegetable oil.  Surprisingly few modifications need to be made in order to get the engine to run on vegetable oil. 

Lovecraft Biofuels have converted just about every type of diesel engine to run on vegetable oil.  The conversion gallery on their site shows everything from a school bus to a Hummer.  The site even gives you advice on how to filter used cooking oil for use as fuel.
