It would appear that the long circulating rumors are in fact correct. Google has been shopping their products around to some different service providers. Ad supported cell phones look like they are on the way. There is a great deal of speculation as to whether a Google phone can succeed. Robert Kagan, a wireless and telecommunications industry analyst from Atlanta was quoted:
Google’s success in its venture will depend largely on the details it is still defining with its manufacturing and network partners, and whether customers are willing to trade user fees for intrusive advertising.
This writer is going to make a less equivocal statement. Many people would trade cell phone fees for advertising. Teenagers and people in low-mid income brackets, who do not use their phones for business, are prime candidates. The Google phone concept can be a success, providing that the phone has a reasonably attractive design and is an alternative option rather than merely the cheapest option.
Would you trade cell phone fees for advertising?

I would trade for an ad-supported phone in a second, but only because regular cell phone charges are obscene.
