A pistol used throughout the Buck Rogers television series (1979-81), has just sold on eBay for $2,750. It has a clear plastic firing tip and lights that can be controlled with a micro-switch controller. The gun was used by Buck Rogers’ sidekick, Hawk and it is 12 inches long. It is a cool piece of television history and considering that the estimated price was $800 – $1,200, it would probably be safe to assume that someone really loved the show.

[...] A pistol from the late ’70s TV show Buck Rogers just fetched $2,750 on eBay. Twelve inches in length, the gun features a microswitch to light up the clear tip. My initial impression: Damn, this thing is cheap-looking. And then I remembered a trip to the Star Trek museum in Vegas, and how cheap phasers looked in person. And then I remembered watching TNG after that trip, and how cheap the phasers looked on TV. So really, who are we to judge sci-fi show props? [ebay via uberreview] [...]
