by:Dsign models are not exactly awe inspiring to look at, but they are an affordable way to get a really big LCD monitor into your living room. These things will not really stack up all that well next to a high end Sharp or Toshiba model, but they will set you back a lot less money. The LF-4700DFK is pretty much standard fare for by:Dsign, but it is bigger than their regular models. At 47″, it is big by any standards. In fact, given the size of the average Japanese home, you would be hard pressed to find anywhere that can handle bigger. It packs a Full HD display and an RGB input (in case you want to use this beast as a computer monitor).

Where the LF-4700DFK falls short is with the lack of inputs. There is only one HDMI in, which means that you are either going to have to invest in an AV selector or you will have to do a bit of cable juggling. There is a range of lesser inputs and there is the RGB input, but if you want some PS3 or X360 action and a standalone BluRay or HD-DVD player, you are at a loss; not that you will be complaining too much at the price of ¥249,800 ($2172).
