Not so Secret German Trojan Horse ProposalStumble This

Trojan Horse

Perhaps Germany should have taken a leaf out of AT&T’s book and just gone ahead and done it.  By it, this author is of course referring to a government proposal to send out emails to terror suspects with Trojan horses.  Earlier this year a plan to perform “clandestine searches” of suspects’ computers was blocked by Federal Court.   The searches were blocked because it was deemed that the German law at the time did not cover such situations.

ccording to Stefan Kaller a spokesperson for Interior minister, Wolfgang Schaeuble the spying measures “will cover a serious and scandalous hole in our information that has arisen through technical changes in recent years.”

The emails in question would appear to come from various government offices, with viruses attached.  What this writer finds amusing is that he gets emails from “his bank” just about every day.  All have attachments and they all end up in exactly the same place.  They had better be wording their emails like the folks behind Storm or they are not going to be very successful.  Especially now that it is common knowledge that the proposal has been made.  Terror suspects read the news just like everybody else.  So when they see subject lines like, “Your social welfare payments are in jeopardy,” or “Your account has been compromised, please read the enclosed attachment with instructions as to how to secure your account” the will know the jig is up.  Beware of Germans bearing gifts.
