One month after launch and this writer’s verdict on the MP4 Watch II is still that it is junk. It would seem that the first MP4 watch was such a success that they decided to make another. Maybe one day, these things will end up like the wristwatch calculators of the 80s are today; reborn with a semblance of cool. Until then, the only things that these watches will accomplish are repelling members of the opposite sex and causing eyestrain as you squint at the tiny, super high-resolution OLED screen. It is seriously tiny at only 1.8 inches.
Perhaps this writer is being harsh, but he doubts it. The MP4 Watch 2 has a video resolution of 160×120 and does pretty well with a frame rate of 20fps. It supports MP3 and WMA for audio. For video it plays NVX and can also handle ASF, WMV and of course, MP4 (being that it is called an MP4 watch). It can record into WAV format, not that you will be having too many conversations with actual humans with this thing strapped to your wrist. It is connectable to your PC via USB 2.0, offers multi language support and has a built-in Lithium-ion battery, which one would assume needs to be recharged often as video tends to use up the juice. It is sold by Brando in 2GB and 4GB sizes which retail for $92 and $118 respectively.
