Everything seems to be going well for Linux these days. For the first time in history there is a Linux platform that has been widely adopted and is easy to use. One area that Linux has failed dismally to shine in is with games, but with an announcement from AMD that they will make their drivers open source, things might start to change. Unfortunately for Linux users, the information that they release will not include Blu-Ray or HD DVD support.
The first thing that will happen with graphics card support is that Linux desktops will get flashier and applications will start to make use of the better graphics capabilities. If more people start adopting Linux, then you might see some of the larger software manufacturers take notice and releasing Linux versions. Will this mean that we see more Windows based software able to run in Linux? Will this cause Nvidia to jump on the open source bandwagon? Only time will tell.
