If you haven’t lived in Japan then you can be forgiven for not knowing about Children’s Day. Girls are given little display cases full of dolls and boys are typically given miniature samurai armor with realistic looking toy swords. People spend up big on the displays, a cheap one will set you back about $500 and there really is no limit to how expensive they can get. The good ones like this are handmade and are finely detailed. Don’t you love the perfect balance that these artisans have attained? The helmet is clearly Vader but blends in so well. The only thing that they could have done differently would have been to infuse the swords with a bit of light saber flavor. For the aging traditional Japanese craft crowd, this is a mighty fine effort. The price is expensive, but pretty good for a handcrafted work of art. What’s half a dime to show your boy they are special?
Price: $5,200 or if you are a tight-ass you can get the helmet and weapons for $1,500
