I Think I can, I Think I can Play CrysisStumble This

Crysis certainly looks like it is going to be the hottest first person shooter ever, so there are a lot of people that have been worrying where the bar will fall with regards to system requirements.  Word on the street or rather word according to The Escapist is that they are fairly reasonable.

  • OS – Windows XP or Windows Vista
  • Processor – 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster (Vista)
  • Memory – 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
  • Video Card -256 MB, Nvidia 6800 GT or higher, or ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (X800 Pro for Vista) or higher
  • Hard Drive – 12 GB
  • Sound Card – DirectX 9.0c compatible

ï¼´hat actually covers a lot of users these days and I must say it is a refreshing surprise.  It really sucks to have to make system upgrades in order to play a game.  Some people simply cannot afford it.  The low-end support should mean that a healthy player base builds up quickly.

Just in case you were wondering, the recommended specs are an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+, 2GB of RAM and GeForce 8800 GTS/640.  Crysis looks very capable of delivering the goods, but it is nice to see that you will get the goods without an overpriced power guzzling SLI rig.  You can play it with the optimal settings on a sub $2,000 system.

Low end support? I meet everything but required RAM and Video Memory. Who cares to donate?

Do you have a motherboard that supports PCI-E? If so, the necessary upgrades will slug you about $100.

When I got a GB of RAM with my current system, everyone thought I was crazy. Now its pretty much standard, but at least RAM prices have bottomed out. My next system is getting 4GB.
