Is the Caterpillar Mini-Vacuum Useless Tech?Stumble This

By now most of you that read the site regularly will know that I get a real bee in my bonnet about useless gadgets and gizmos. You know the kind of stupid things that I am talking about, toaster / radio combinations, refrigerators that play MP3s; stupid combinations that accomplish nothing other than the consumption of precious resources. They are destined for the scrapheap, where you can bet you will find at least (insert large arbitrary number that I could not be bothered thinking up) of the equally stupid caterpillar mini vacuum. It is designed to vacuum up dust, crumbs and assorted filth from your desk. It runs on a pair of AAs which makes it only slightly less offensive than powering it via USB, though cannot really explain why.

Here’s a revelation to you folks at Design Town that thought a $10 mini-vacuum was a good idea. I can do a better job with a wet rag and probably exert less energy in the process. Give me a robotic, silent, powerful vacuum cleaner that moves around my desk when I am not at it and I will think about it. Until then I do not need your tacky, junky clutter. Is the Caterpillar Mini-Vacuum useless tech? I will let you decide for yourselves, you already know my opinion.

Price: $10
