Robo Hopper Looks like Short-Lived AmusementStumble This

Robohopper

Remote-control stuff is awesome, you will hear no argument from me there, but remote control flying things tend to have a pretty short lifespan when placed in the wrong hands. I have to concur with the guys at Slashgear that this thing looks a lot like the Honda Asimo. The main differences are, of course, that the Asimo does not sport a heli-pack and the Asimo is worth lots and lots of money.

As with most remote controlled flying doohickeys that require charging, playtime is short. 15 minutes of charge time will score you a very meager 5 minutes of flight time. The fun ratio is therefore one to three, which does not sound terribly exciting. You will need 4AA batteries for the controller, which we hope, stays charged for a little longer than five minutes. It stands at 15.9 cm tall, and we have no word on what materials it is constructed from, so we cannot give any sort of realistic estimate as to lifespan. The price, when it becomes available in Japan is set to be $90.

I think I will pass on this one and go for those cool looking laser tag helicopters instead. They look like more fun, you get two of them for about the same price as one Robo Hopper and 5-7 minutes of flight time per charge.
