Nvidia Gearing up With More Powerful Mobile GPUs

GeForce 8800 M GTX

Nvidia has brought two new mobile graphics powerhouses into the fold with the GeForce 8800M GTX and slightly milder is GeForce 8800M GTS. Both should give mobile gamers plenty of bang, but are sure to come at a cost. They are compatible with Direct X 9 and 10 and feature PowerMizer power management technology to keep the batteries going as long as possible.

The GTX is looking a mighty fine piece of handiwork:

  • Stream Processors: 96
  • Core Clock (MHz): 500
  • Shader Clock (MHz): 1250
  • Memory Clock (MHz): 800
  • Maximum Memory: 512MB
  • Memory Interface: 256-bit

The GTS is slightly toned down with only 64 stream processors, but other than that seems to be identical. This means that even the cheaper option will be able to handle some pretty tasking requirements. Playing Crysis on high settings ought to be no test for next year’s power offerings from Alienware, the Area-51 m17x and Area-51 m15x.

Nvidia, Crave
