Thoughts and Feelings on Beowulf the GameStumble This

Beowulf

I have spent a bit of time over the last few weeks playing the game Beowulf and forming my opinions on the game. It is an interesting game, amusing at times, very bloody, but overall I was underwhelmed. The trouble with the game was quite simply that it was not enough of a game for my liking. The combat was repetitive and and the game was just too damned frustrating. Graphics were lackluster, though I must say that the video sequences were awe inspiring, but then they usually are. Video sequences are not what sell games, game graphics are, and Beowulf just did not impress me that much.

That did not mean that the game was not fun. I enjoyed it, just not as much as I expected too. I don’t usually buy games that are based on movie, nor do I usually watch movies based on games. I like to keep the two separate. Either way, both versions tend to come off looking half cocked. The combat in Beowulf was simplistic and in the end become boring. The blood and gore were somewhat entertaining, but that will only take you so far.

This game does appeal to some people. If you are not a serious gamer, then you might enjoy this game. It is easy to learn and it could be interesting. If, however, you play a lot of games then you will probably be expecting more. I give this one a three out of five.
