Delkin’s Stomping ImageRouter Downloads Bucketfuls of Photos at OnceStumble This

Delkin ImageRouter

Here is an example of a cool device with the terrible form factor. The Delkin ImageRouter actually serves a useful purpose for a lot of people (though not me personally). It lets you plug in up to four Compact Flash cards and download all of the photos at once. If you are a photojournalist or a photoblog nerd then you are probably really excited to be reading this. If you are anyone else you are probably asking, “so what?”

While I think the ImageRouter is a nifty concept, I can’t help but think that they could have done a little better with the design. While I am sure that it doesn’t need to be so unbelievably huge, you would think that they could have opted for a cable connection instead of a straight jack. They definitely need to rethink that one for the next time around. Throw in a cable and shrink it a little bit Delkin and your ImageRouter will shrug the shackles of doodaddery and become unbelievably friggin’ awesome.

As a part-time event photog, I love this. Nothing worse than coming back to the hotel room at 3am with a handful of cards, needed to copy out all of them to hard drives, trying to nap in between 16GB downloads. I eventually bought five card readers, and I can queue all the downloads in Bibble and just let the whole deal run overnight.
