Sony Puts out Some Sweet Looking Digital Frames

Sony Digital Photo Frame

Sony has three new 7-inch and 9-inch WVGA digital frames on the market and they look pretty good if digital frames are your thing. With an advanced image processor that upscales photos to 48 megapixels, your holiday happy snaps will be looking clearer than they ever have before.

The models also feature 10 slide show variations, clock and calendar views, and two index modes so you can preview several photos at once, all standard options I’ve seen with many digital photo frames on the market. The 7-inch DPF-V700 and 9-inch DPF-V900 digital photo frames have 512MB of internal storage, while the 7-inch DPF-D70 model has 256MB of internal flash memory.

I am still not convinced about digital frames. For me, part of the beauty of pictures and picture frames is that they don’t have an ugly mess of wires connecting to them. A nice painting or photo can show textures that you don’t see on a digital screen. I spend that long looking at screens each day, I really have to ask whether I need to add another one to the mix.

Prices of Sony’s new S-Frames are $250, $190, and $140 for the DPF-V900, DPF-V700, and DPF-D70. Available in March.
