
It does not get much greener than a lamp lit by gravity. How does it work? It is quite simple that you might reasonably ask why no one has thought of such a thing before. It is quite simple really, the lamp is primed, by turning it over and then you will have continuous light for four hours as the weight falls. The falling weight turns a small rotor which generates the electricity to power ten high-output LEDs. It will give you between 600 and 800 lumens or about the same amount of light as a 40W incandescent bulb. The device is expected to last for two hundred years if it is used as much as eight hours per day.
