A grappling hook gun is just about every kids dream, at least it was when I was growing up. It is for this reason that I took an interest when I saw a post on Crave about the TPL-S. Here we can see a real, live grappling hook gun and I have to say it is a lot bigger than I ever imagined one would be. I guess it is all the rope that it has to hold. Take a look at the picture at the bottom of the page to see what I mean.
The TPL-S is designed and built by Digital Force Technologies with Special Operations Force operatives in mind. It is a grappling hook gun that will fire a hook 120-feet into the air using a pneumatic gun. The hook is constructed from titanium, which I am assuming makes it light, but the gun itself or the total package is heavy. It weighs in at a staggering 19lbs. It is an extremely large piece as well, measuring 44-inches in length. On the plus side, we are assuming that it is very quiet, considering the fact that it is powered by pressurized air and the Kevlar rope is probably very durable despite only being 7mm thick.
There is no word on price, but considering that these guys market to military and or quasi-mercenary types, it is probably more than most of us would be prepared to cough up.
