The Kahva is a new take on some old technology. Coffee siphons have been around for many years, but this looks a much more hardy contraption; and it is stylish without the flimsy look of a traditional siphon. What’s more, it is compatible with just about any conduction pad heater, which makes the Kahva versatile as well as being undeniably sexy.
I have heard that siphon coffee makers make the best coffee, something about them extracting the perfect amount of coffee from the grinds. Number two, incidentally, is the old fashioned coffee press. Drip filter coffee makers come in third and coffee percolaters come dead last as they overextract and leave the coffee tasting bitter. Espresso machines land all over the board, depending on the manufacturer. The thing with siphon-style coffee makers is that they have always been unwieldy contraptions, with a great aesthetic, but not terribly portable and not capable of standing up to a rough and tumble household.
The Kahva is in concept stages now, but with its fine lines and its ability to brew up a phenomenal cup of joe, we are guessing that it will find its way into wherever quality coffee brewing equipment is sold. Methinks it could use a handle.
