Firstly, let me state categorically that I cannot stand blinged gadgets of any description. I believe that the world would be a better place without them and the never ending legion of suckers that are devoted to them ought to do their selves a favor and give all of that money that they would waste on such trivial nonsense to me; or at least donate it to charity. There is room for creative expression with gadgets, don’t get me wrong, but as they are temporary in nature, leave materials like gold and crystals out of the picture.
That being said, I have to say that the Zana Wood Engraved USB Flash Memory Drives look lovely. They don’t overdo it, a few semi-precious gemstones in a tasteful block of wood that houses 1GB to 8GB of memory, highlighted with a sliver of silver and topped off with some sharp engraving.
Price: $43 for 1GB – $78 for 8GB

Wow. Those do look pretty nice.
I agree about the over-bling thing. A lot of it seems to be just “how much can we throw on here,” but these look pretty nice. That, and they don’t cost thousands of dollars. I’d never have guessed they start at $49. It’s not cheap, but its by no means a huge financial stretch.

For anyone interested we sell wooden drives in maple, rosewood, walnut and bamboo from 512MB to 8GB. They cost just a little more than normal drives. Say $12 for 1GB.
