AMD Quad-Core Chips Not Playing Nice with all MoBosStumble This

AMD Logo
AMD has confirmed that their line-topping quad-core Phenoms are having trouble playing nicely with certain motherboards. The problem is a mismatch with the chipset that occurs when people try to pair a 780G motherboard with a 125-watt Phenom. To ensure that there are no CPU / motherboard mismatches, check the Thermal Design Power (TDP) of the CPU and compare it to that of the motherboard. Most new enthusiast boards that are AMD compatible should be able to handle 125W, but it never hurts to check. [CNET]
