AMD has confirmed that their line-topping quad-core Phenoms are having trouble playing nicely with certain motherboards. The problem is a mismatch with the chipset that occurs when people try to pair a 780G motherboard with a 125-watt Phenom. To ensure that there are no CPU / motherboard mismatches, check the Thermal Design Power (TDP) of the CPU and compare it to that of the motherboard.
