In-flight cellular phone calls have come to Europe to the delight of some but the chagrin of many others. There are few things that I find more annoying than some jackass yammering away about business in an already noisy and stressful environment.
The details that are available for the moment are that up to six passengers are able to call at once, with that number to be expanded to twelve and that the cost will depend on the airline. In Air France’s test-run, the cost was $4.80 per minute and the call quality was less than perfect. There are some places that should be cell phone free and airplanes top that list, edging in just above restaurants and hospitals. [International Herald Tribune]
