Rumors are flying thick and fast that we will see the release of Windows Seven as early as 2009. That would put Windows Vista into almost the same category as Windows Me. These rumors are thanks to comments made by none other than Bill Gates himself, though it should be noted that there is no way to be sure whether he was implying that it would be commercially available in that time frame or whether it would be getting a Beta release in 2009. Still, food for thought.

Here are a few things that I would like to see Microsoft do in Windows Seven:

• Multi-language - I do not understand why it is so difficult to have multi-language menus.
• Single version - All this Ultimate, Business, Home Premium and Basic nonsense really rubbed me the wrong way.
• Bring the price down to less than $200, better yet make it $100.
• Get serious about 64-bit.
• Reduce the boot time.

I won’t be jumping on the Windows Seven bandwagon unless I have a compelling reason to do so.
