Video Tape USB Hub
Almost no one uses video tapes anymore and they are increasingly hard to find, but if you have an old collection lying around, it can be put to good use. Hacked Gadgets has a great little project which turns an old VHS tape (I suppose it would work for Beta too if anyone still has those or knows what they are). They fitted the inner workings of a powered USB hub, a couple of LEDs and presto USB hub in a video tape.

There is a little bit of wiring involved, but this is something simple enough for a novice with a soldering iron to accomplish. Note that it would not hurt to have a few extra types on hand in case of mistakes. I have to admit I love the Hacked Gadgets idea of adding a motor and a little tape to it to have the spools turning when it is powered on. [Instructables via Hacked Gadgets]

Haha. I feel so old school. I’m a 90’s kid, but I grew up using LaserDisk as well as VHS, and my family still has the LaserDisk player, VHS player, and a Beta player, and movies to watch on all of the above. (We have current technology too, though!)
