Onkyo’s Super-Stylish KM-2W Keyboard and a MouseStumble This

Onkyo has made an interesting entry into the super-stylish wireless desktop market with their ridiculously good-looking KM-2W keyboard and mouse. They both feature a brushed aluminum surface in a gun-metal color, but I have to say it is the keyboard that has my attention.

Going from images alone it is easy to distinguish that the 106-key Japanese layout keyboard has low-profile keys. It looks to be set at a good angle for typing and it weighs in at 1250g, which should keep it from sliding around all over your desk.

Given the aesthetics of the keyboard, the mouse is a real letdown. It looks like an RSI nightmare on steroids. The plastic middle button looks tacky and you can’t help but feel it was an afterthought, An 800 dpi sensor is insufficient for this desktop, especially if it is going to be used for media center applications.

This is an interesting first offering from Onkyo, but there are quite simply too many better options on the market. I love the keyboard design though and am hoping that the version 2.0 mouse will be a little more to my liking. [Akihabara News]
