Sky Factory Virtual Ceilings and Windows Make Life Better than Reality

Sky Factory WindowIf your real view sucks, then the virtual ceilings and windows from Sky Factory can give you something a little better to look at. They make use of backlighting balanced with natural sunlight to achieve their optical illusion. They look pretty good, but are bound to be expensive considering the fact that they must be custom-built and it takes four to six weeks for Sky Factory to get the job done.

According to the Sky Factory website:

The Sky Factory makes SkyCeilings and Luminous Virtual Windows that transform the interior design of any interior space in a manner similar to a wall mural, ceiling mural, sky mural, skylight or sky light, or ceiling art for a custom ceiling, or a ceiling of standard ceiling tiles or drop ceiling panels. The Sky Factory”s products are widely used in patient centered healthcare facilities where modes of art therapy are incorporated. Sky Ceilings display beautiful photographic images of skies, clouds, stars, trees, blossoms, and natural landscapes to create magical illusions of cloud ceilings, star ceilings, etc.

Alright, maybe the title was a slight overstatement, but I can categorically state that it is not healthy to live in a tiny studio apartment from whence you can reach out and touch the neighboring building through your only window. I like a darkened room as much as the next geek, but a bit of sunlight makes a difference.
