Asus U6, Trimmed Down Bamboo Notebook from Asus Sees Production

The Asus EcoBook was a concept notebook with a few notable drawbacks due to the fact that it was constructed almost entirely of bamboo. People were concerned about the possibility of the machine warping or catching fire. The Asus U6 addresses many of these concerns by reinforcing the bamboo with other materials.

The U6 packs enough punch with its 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo T7700 processor, but only carries 1GB of RAM in its standard configuration, which is not enough in this day and age. The bamboo trim looks good, but does not really match the dull gray color of the keyboard and monitor.

I love the idea of using bamboo to build computers, but I would like to see a little more attention paid to detail. This thing could look a thousand times better if a little more attention was paid to aesthetics.

its disappointing to see how little bamboo is present on the EcoBook presented above. i would have hoped that they could have at least picture-framed the LCD and also included bamboo on the top of this lappy.

Hopefully there is more Ecobook sizzle to come
