There are a few advantages to the MacBook Air Shield. It does leave your port accessible (singular, there is only one USB port) and it does seem to offer a bit of protection for some of the delicate areas of the machine. To top that off, it is open enough to allow some good airflow. Unfortunately none of these benefits can get me past the fact that the MBA Shield looks as ugly as sin.
If you are going to spend all of that money on a razor thin PC, you don’t want to be uglying it up with mods like this. If you want something ugly, go out and buy a Dell.

Congrats on buying the MBP, but the HEAT SHIELD is also required for the MB Air? — My newly purchased MBP fries my legs. I will be curious if yours will do the same. It needs a heat shield… and so does the terrabyte backup that I dare not rest on cloth or wood. What gives with the Apple Engineering department? Do they have too many shares in Halliburton to conserve energy?
