I guess you just have had bad experiences with PC's! I too have never had a PC die on me. I have a compaq lt5400 laptop from 1996 still running win 98, a dell from 98 running XP, and a celeron tower from around 2000 running windows 2K3 server R2.

Also, it seems you're comparing hardware and trying to make a point that mac's are higher quality. That's simply not the point, and futher proof that you're just indulged in the sleek ads and styling of the mac's.

They actually all use the same hardware. Same intel, ATI, or nVidia graphics card, same HDD's, same ram manufactuters. They just look prettier, that's all.

My company is an all mac shop. Our OSX server crashes at least once a week. We have a MacMedics (a mac hardware support group) come in weekly to do updates, maintain software/hardware, and fix any of the numerous issues my colleagues face everyday: mail programs not working, constant freezes, not being able to mount shares, etc. My workstation needed to be completely reinstalled with Tiger as I would randomly loose desktop icons. Also, the battery in my macbook is faulty (and dies after an hour), whereas the battery in that Dell from 98 still gets 2.5 hours out of a battery.

Now, I've also used Leopard for over a year, at home, and I do admit it's a sleek, sexy OS. However, that's just by itself and that's all I'll do with it. I'll carry it around to coffee shops or wherever I need to browse, or write something, or do some email stuff, but for actual work and gaming, I'll stick with my XPS.

What you need to do when comparing Windows Vs. OS X is this
how much is you time worth.

If you are a person that has the extra time and patience to deal with re installing a Windows operating system because you just can't get it to work, then you should consider buying a wintel box.

That's not to say that macs never crash, they certainly do. but the fact is that I have never had a mac just completely die on me. I've had several wintel boxes that have simply stopped being functional after less than six months of normal use.

The other thing to consider is initial investment cost vs and total usefulness you will get out of the product.

I purchased a blue and white g3 in 1998 and it still does just about everthing i need to do. runs os x 10.3.9 and in only now being challenged by a few websites, that are really mostly badly designed, most people do not own macs or intels that can do all the bells and whistles that the latest web technology can provide.
Any pc that old will not run vista or xp for that matter without out being insanely slow.

so go ahead by a pc, save a 500 to 1000 dollars. but I guarantee that you will be spending far more time dealing with crashes, and lost data. and you investment will be absolete in five years. or by a mac, spend a little more, save yourself more headaches (because and system is bound to give a headache once or twice) and use it for a decade before you upgrade (if you really think you need to watch your hd movies while doing a spreadsheet).

In other words, how much is your time worth? if its alot buy a mac.

I don't know why people bother posting their views on vista, unless they're 100% positive, anymore... all you're gonna get is these 'pcnut's and 'scott's talking about how the elitistmacfanboyjobslovers suck, and how 90% of the world hates them.

of course they don't realize that nobody gives a shit about the opinions of people whose favorite activity is to troll articles of other peoples opinions in order to start flame wars. But hey. they're all really lifeless 12 year olds anyway.

Rich and elitist buy apples and the poor buy pc and use linux. These are toys people, why don't you complain and get upset about something useful. like how obsolete the automobile is. You are screwed into buying new no matter what system you use, don't like it buy a new abacus..................
