Grand Theft Auto will no longer be sold in Thailand after an 18-year-old Thai student went on a rampage that he confessed was inspired by the game. During the teenager’s attempted theft of a taxi, the 54-year-old driver fought back, prompting the teenager to stab the man to death.
It is alleged that the teenager told police that, “he wanted to see if it was as easy to rob a taxi in real life as it was in the video game. The allegations have prompted distributor New Era Interactive to halt sales of Grand Theft Auto in Thailand and “urge outlets and shops to pull the games off their shelves.” [Reuters via The Register]
