
We have seen wood and bamboo PCs, so it was only ever going to be a matter of time before someone built a cell phone out of the stuff. I am presuming that the Maple Phone is made out of maple, but I could be wrong. What I do know is that it was designed by Hyun Jin Yoon and Eun Hak Lee and that their goal with the phone was to make it cheaper to mass produce; though at what cost to the environment?
The screen is concealed behind a slider and it uses a touch sensitive keypad with a backlight which illuminates through the wood. At the moment the Maple Phone is in concept stages, but [Camera Phones Plaza via Toys and Gadgets, Oh Gizmo!]
