Wake N’ Bacon, Wake Up to the Scent of Freshly Cooking Bacon

If you ask me, alarm clocks that wake you with the cooking of bacon are the fast track to experiencing the wonders of modern medicine and the joys of open-heart surgery before you are thirty. That little disclaimer aside, lets take a look at the Wake N’ Meat, because it is most certainly a unique alarm clock that can save yourself the trouble of preparing yourself a tasty breakfast treat each morning.

According to the maker:

A frozen strip of bacon is placed in Wake n’ Bacon the night before. Because there is a 10 minute cooking time, the clock is set to go off 10 minutes before the desired waking time. Once the alarm goes off, the clock it sends a signal to a small speaker to generate the alarm sound. We hacked the clock so that the signal is re-routed by a microchip that in responds by sending a signal to a relay that throws the switch to power two halogen lamps that slow-cook the bacon in about 10 minutes.

While turning bacon into a staple breakfast food might not be the best idea, health-wise, it would certainly make waking up a lot more delicious. [Mathlete via Geekologie]
