
Deep Green is a pool playing robot that is the work of researchers at Queen’s University. It makes use of a Global Vision system to see balls on the table, a Local Vision system to select the right shot and a pneumatic actuator to make a shot from 3-12 m/s.

So how well does it play? The word is that the robot can play at an amateur level, but the designers have aspirations. They plan to work on its game until it is able to challenge a professional. [Computer.org via Tech Digest, Oh Gizmo]
