iBike Console is Cool… ButStumble This

The iBike Console has a lot going for it. It is essentially an iPod dock for your bike that will allow your iPod Nano to do some pretty cool stuff, like display typical cycle computer information. It also comes with a set of controls that you can handle relatively safely whilst on your bike and features a protective case to keep your Nano safe from the elements.

So what’s the problem? I can’t think of anything dumber than riding whilst listening to music. Don’t get me wrong, it is a pleasant distraction, but as someone who has chalked up more than my fair share of miles on two wheels I would tend to be of the opinion that it isn’t worth it. As a driver, I have lost track of the amount of times some kid has strayed into the path of my car whilst listening to their iPod.

My advice to the iBike Console guys is to put some cheap weatherproof speakers on this thing and steer away from encouraging people to ride with earphones.

Price: $76 [iBike Console via Ubergizmo]
