Bushido Dead? Jilted Piano Teacher Feeling the Heat Over Virtual MurderStumble This

A 43-year-old piano teacher from Southern Miyazaki in Japan has been arrested. Angered that she suddenly found herself e-divorced and decide to take revenge most vicious; she logged onto her e-husband’s Maple Story account and destroyed his character. When the e-romance was blossoming, he trusted her enough to provide her with his login information.

In her words as recounted by an official:

I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry.

While she has not been charged with the virtual murder, she has been accused but not charged of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating electronic data. With the near perfect conviction rate of Japanese prosecutors, it really does suck to be her right now. The alleged offender could face up to five years in prison with a USD $5000 fine chaser.

At the moment, charges have yet to be laid, but the suspect has been from southern Miyazaki, all the way north to Sapporo, Hokkaido where her virtual victim, a 33-year-old office worker (who actually ratted out his former virtual flame to the police) is based. Well might one raise the question, “is Bushido dead?” [The Age]
